Mariah Carey's ex-husband Tommy Mottola is taking credit for her success in a new tell-all memoir excerpted in the New York Post.
After their divorce, Carey often called her ex "controlling" and "emotionally abusive" and Mottola admits at least to the controlling part in his new book, Hitmaker, writing that his obsession with making Mariah a star absolutely worked.
"If it seemed I was controlling, I apologize," he writes. "Was I obsessive? Yes. But that was also part of the reason for her success."

Years after their 1997 divorce, music executive Mottola is telling his side of the story about his personal and professional partnership with one of America's most famous pop stars. In the book, Mottola recalls how after hearing then 18-year-old Mariah's demo record, he thought to himself, "That may be the best voice you've ever heard in your life!"
Although Carey had already been offered a record deal, Mottola upped the figure and told her he'd make her the biggest pop star in the world. The married exec also began an affair with Carey. Her debut album sold more than 15 million copies.

When Carey wanted to take a break to enjoy her success at the age of 21, Mottola writes, "My feeling was that there'd be plenty of time for Mariah to celebrate just a little ways down the road. I'm not talking ten years, just a few."
The controlling behavior continued after Mottola divorced his wife and married Carey in 1993. Mottola admits in Hitmaker that he made all the musical decisions for the singer and confined her to their Bedford, New York mansion. Carey later called the property "Sing Sing" and their marriage "a private hell."
But Mottola maintains he did it all for her career and she should be grateful.
Now happily married to America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon, with whom she raises their "dembabies," 1 1/2-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan, Mariah will soon be seen in her new gig as American Idol judge when the show premieres Wed., Jan. 16 on FOX.

Photos on the Haley Heston website showed Favor-Hamilton as "Kelly" posing in sexy lingerie and heels inside various Las Vegas hotel rooms, often with her back to the camera to shield her face.
In her profile -- which has since been deleted -- she states her rates, from $600 for one hour to $6,000 for a 24-hour period. Additionally, clients are charged an extra $300 for one particular sex act that was deemed illegal in 14 U.S. States right up until 2003.

"I met Haley with the idea of fulfilling a fantasy and only doing it for the short term," she wrote on her profile.
"Well, after my first date, I was hooked, and have been doing my best to visit Las Vegas as often as my schedule allows (I run my own business in my real world life).
"Discretion is EXTREMELY important to me, hence you will only see blurred photos of my face on this site. I know this is not ideal, but I hope you understand that it is essential for me."

In the profile, Favor-Hamilton described herself as a "workout fanatic" who enjoyed skiing, biking, hiking, running marathons and traveling.
She also shared that she is bisexual and happy to provide services for couples: "Working with couples requires special skill and I pride myself in my ability to make a woman feel comfortable and not threatened in any way. A date with me will NEVER feel rushed."
Surprisingly, Favor-Hamilton would often blab about her real identity to her johns -- often boasting about her days as an Olympic long-distance runner who competed in the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympics, where she famously fell on purpose during the Sydney Olympics 1500m final when she realized she could not win.

Her secret life as a hooker was exposed last month, after she was confronted about her double life by a reporter in the lobby of a Vegas hotel, and she confessed to her work as "Kelly."
"I take full responsibility for my mistakes. I'm not the victim and I'm not going that route," she told the Smoking Gun, who first broke the bombshell story.
"I'm owning up to what I did. I would not blame anybody except myself." She added, "Everybody in this world makes mistakes. I made a huge mistake. Huge."

Favor-Hamilton, who’s married to her childhood sweetheart Mark, said her 44-year-old lawyer husband back in Madison, Wisconsin knew of her escort work but, "He tried, he tried to get me to stop. He wasn't supportive of this at all."
Since the story broke, Favor-Hamilton -- who has a 7-year-old daughter -- has defended her actions on her Twitter page.
She wrote: "I realize I have made highly irrational choices and I take full responsibility for them. I am not a victim here and knew what I was doing.

4. Even at her peek she struggled with emotional issues from the intense pressure to win. "There were those demons in your brain telling you you're not good enough, you're not fast enough, you need to be better," revealed the middle-distance runner. "The pressure to win was great." After coming home empty-handed from both the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games, Favor-Hamilton was accused of being a choker and not having the drive to win when it mattered.

The 2000 Olympics were dominated by Suzy's devastation over the suicide of her beloved brother, Dan Favor, who suffered from bi-polar disorder and jumped off an eight-story building in September 1999 after coming off his meds. Instead of winning a medal in his honor, she purposely crashed and burned in a heap on the track. "Coming around that (last) corner the anxiety gripped me so bad. It told my brain, 'Just fall. That's the easiest solution. Just fall, and this all will go away.' That was the only way out," she confessed.

2. While certainly the most shocking revelation, Favor's "sex for sale" scandal isn't the first time she has hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. After the Sydney games, she starred in a controversial a Nike commercial that portrayed her living in a big house near a forest on a dark, creepy night when a chainsaw-wielding masked killer appears and attempts to kill her, reminiscent of classic horror films. She manages to outrun him thanks to her Nike sneakers, and the ad closes with the message, "Why sport? You'll live longer."
The ad sparked outrage from protestors who argued that it made light of violence against women, while others claimed it was just too scary to watch, especially for children.

1. Suzy has fought her own battle with depression, which she blames for motivating her to begin working at the premier Las Vegas escort service Haley Heston last December, and takes the the antidepressant Zoloft in an attempt to mask the dark thoughts that haunt her.
